Drought plan fight between Arizona farms and cities escalates

This is just one of several articles written by Tony Davis last week regarding the ongoing drought in the southwest and the federal government's requirement to have a Colorado River drought management plan in place by January 31st, now just over a week away. If they do not have the plan in place then the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will launch a legal process that would likely trigger a formal, federal management takeover of the Colorado River which supplies more than 40 percent of Arizona's water. Even if it is passed it will not resolve the ongoing disputes between agricultural interests and cities in the Phoenix metro area and Tucson.
